Oriental Band – December 2011
Busy week coming up for the O.B as we have our Temple Business
Meeting/Election coming up Monday December 5th at 7”00 P.M.. Wear you Fez
and have your current or 2012 Dues Card with you.
Our Band will practice/meet this coming Wednesday, the 7th at 7:00 P.M.
Our Ladies are also scheduled to do the Tray Favors that evening.
Oriental Band Units Annual Christmas/Holiday Party December 10th. If you
have not already turned your $ and your meat selection for our Party, it must be
done by Wednesday December 7th as this is when we notify the Holiday Inn with
our Dinner orders. In case you didn’t receive or have mislaid the details of
Saturday’s event, I’ll list it again towards the end of this letter
Fundraiser Dinner: A big thanks to all who attended and/or worked our
Dinner at Jim &Jack’s on Sunday November 20. Because of your efforts, our
depleted coffers have experienced new life.
Health News: Unfortunately during this Holiday Season we have several
members experiencing some Health problems. Our 2011 O.B. President, George
Berry, is recovering from heart surgery, Don Orme has had recurring problems
and hasn’t been able to get out much, and Will Henrich had to cut his stay in
Florida short and is now at home. Please keep these Gentlemen and all of our O.
B. Family in your thoughts and Prayers and let’s hope they all have a speedy
recovery.
Syrian Temples Oriental Band Units Annual Christmas/Holiday Party
December 10th. Formal Invitations were sent out concerning our Christmas Party.
If for some reason you didn’t receive one, or if you have misplaced the invitation,
or if you have someone else you would like to bring contact me (see below)
ASAP.
Place: Holiday Inn Airport, 1717 Airport Exchange Blvd. Erlanger, KY (Mineola
Pike Exit (Off I-275), Telephone (859) 371-2233
Date/Times: Saturday December 10th. Casual dress afternoon party starts at 1:00
P.M. in Hospitality Room #124.. We will be moving shortly thereafter to a larger
Hospitality Room, near our Dinner Dining Room. .If you plan on attending the
afternoon Social, we ask that you bring an appetizer/snack to share. Beverages
are provided.
6:00 P.M. –7:00 Cocktails in the Kenton Dining Room: Dinner Dress. Dinner
served 7:00 P.M.
Following Dinner, there will be Presentations, Entertainment, a visit from Santa
and a Gift Exchange. The Gift Exchange, if you care to participate, involves
purchasing a $8.00 or less, gift, then marking your gift for presentation to a Man
or Women. Remember Bob Beyer’s famous words “In order to receive a gift, you
must bring a gift!”
Cost is $35 per person/$70 per couple (Except for our special Ladies, see below).
Make checks payable to the Syrian Oriental Band. Checks or Cash, are to be
given to John Longsworth, no later than Saturday December 3rd.(not at the
Party) Remember, if you make a reservation, and we turn your reservation into
the Hotel, the Band is liable to the Hotel for the per person cost of the Meal, so it’
s essential that if you do make a reservation, keep it please, or Cancel early.

Special Ladies: Continuing with our past practices, the Oriental Band will be
inviting our special (widowed) Ladies to the Christmas Party at no cost to these
Ladies, but we do ask that you Ladies please make a reservation by December
3rd. Please call John Longsworth at 513 337-5137 (Day) or 831-6150 (Eve) to
confirm your attendance.
Rooms: The O.B. has negotiated a price of $85 (+ tax) for a room, for those who
wish to spend the night at the Hotel. Individuals are responsible for making their
own room arrangements with the Holiday Inn. If you want a room, Call the
Holiday Inn at (859) 371-2233 and tell them you’re attending the Shriners Oriental
Band Holiday Party”. If anyone wants to go early, and stay on Friday night the
9th, the same $85.00 rate is available.
As soon as you get your invitation/forms, look them over, make your choice of
the Meat desired. Atlantic Salmon, Roulade of Chicken Breast and New York
Strip Steak will be offered and send it in along with your check. Please get your
reservations in as early as you can, so we may better prepare for the food and
beverage arrangements.

there are any changes.
